Kauai Coffee began as the McBryde Sugar Company in the early 1800s, one of Hawaii’s first sugar plantations. In 1987 it was converted into a coffee operation, becoming a major diversified agricultural project in the state over the previous fifty years. After Hurricane Iniki in 1992 caused significant damage, the company recovered and by 1996 produced more coffee than the entire Kona region.
