The Pleasant Valley Wine Company, founded in 1860 near Hammondsport, NY, is the oldest winery in the Finger Lakes region and holds the designation U.S. Bonded Winery No.1. Its complex includes eight stone structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places and underground caves carved into the valley slope, which are preserved for educational tours. The visitor center displays historical artifacts, a detailed model of the Bath and Hammondsport Railroad, and a cooper shop with authentic wine barrels and tools.
