The Mauna Loa facility in Hilo is located within ten minutes of the airport and offers a look at the full cycle of macadamia nut production, from roasting to packaging in jars, cans, and foil. Visitors can observe the manufacturing of chocolate‑covered, glazed, and savory nut varieties, as well as other gift items and tropical treats. After touring the plantation and factory, guests may shop in the factory store, sample the products, and walk through a landscaped area featuring over thirty tropical plant species.
