The Wayside Inn Grist Mill

Sudbury, MA

The Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury, Massachusetts, was constructed in 1924 as the first working mill built specifically for a museum setting. Designed by hydraulic engineer J.B. Campbell and commissioned by Henry Ford, the mill uses French millstones and 18th‑century milling equipment to grind grain for the Inn’s kitchen and for sale in the gift shop. Visitors can observe the mill in operation and learn about the historical milling process through guided tours.
