Dakota Gasification Company

Beulah, ND

The Dakota Gasification Company in Beulah, North Dakota, converts local lignite coal into synthetic natural gas and a range of chemicals, including fertilizers and solvents. The plant feeds the gas into a 34‑mile pipeline that joins the Northern Border Pipeline, delivering fuel to multiple utilities across the eastern United States. In addition to gas production, the facility generates carbon dioxide that is exported for use in enhanced oil recovery projects in Canada.
