The Lane Packing Company traces its origins to a 1908 farm founded by John David Duke, later expanded into peach packing and basket liner manufacturing. After several ownership transitions, the family built a contemporary packinghouse on the original farm site in 1990, which remains in operation today. The company now includes a roadside market, a café, a gift shop, a mail‑order department, and a five‑acre strawberry patch that visitors can harvest or have harvested.
