Kansas Underground Salt Museum

Hutchinson, KS

The Kansas Underground Salt Museum is located in Hutchinson, Kansas, and lies 650 feet beneath the surface within the nation's largest salt deposit. Visitors travel underground by tram through active mining areas and into sections that have been repurposed for storage. The mine’s stable temperature and humidity make it suitable for preserving temperature‑sensitive materials, such as historic film reels.
