Grafton Village Cheese Company (Brattleboro)

The Grafton Village Cheese Company was established in 1892 by local dairy farmers who formed a cooperative to convert surplus milk into cheese. After a fire in 1912, the nonprofit Windham Foundation rebuilt the facility in the 1960s, allowing the town to resume its cheese‑making tradition. Visitors can observe the production process at either the original Grafton plant or the newer Brattleboro facility, each of which includes a retail window for tasting finished cheeses.
