Grafton, VT

The Grafton Village Cheese Company began in 1892 when local dairy farmers formed a cooperative to convert surplus milk into cheese. After a fire in 1912, the nonprofit Windham Foundation rebuilt the facility in the 1960s, allowing the town to resume its cheese‑making tradition. Visitors can observe the production process at either of the two plants—one in Grafton and another in Brattleboro—each featuring a retail window where finished cheeses are displayed and sampled.
