Gardners Candies was established in 1897 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania by James "Pike" Gardner, who began selling sweets from a small shop and later used a horse‑drawn wagon to reach local fairs. The company expanded its product range to include candy, popcorn, and peanuts, and today it operates 15 retail stores throughout the state. A factory tour offers a look at the manufacturing of items such as the Original Peanut Butter Meltaway and illustrates the firm’s long‑standing focus on quality and customer service.
