Crowley Cheese

Healdville, VT

The Crowley Cheese factory, founded in 1882, still produces cheese by hand using the same techniques that Winfield Crowley employed over a century ago. The post‑and‑beam building, built beside a mountain brook, has remained largely unchanged and contains no automated equipment, so the daily output of a few hundred pounds of cheese is made entirely by human labor. The factory is situated in the rural community of Healdville, Vermont, roughly two miles from Route 103, and tours are available most weekdays with prior notice.
