The Baltimore Phoenix Shot Tower, situated at 801 E Fayette St in East Baltimore, is a 234‑foot red‑brick structure erected in 1828. It demonstrates the historical method of bullet production in which molten lead was dropped from the tower’s top, forming spherical shot as it cooled during the fall. Tours are available every Saturday at 10 a.m.; the tower held the title of the tallest building in the United States upon its completion.
